Dr Samoon inaugurates Workshop Block at Women ITI Bemina

Srinagar: Principal Secretary Skill Development Department, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon today inaugurated a workshop block at Women Industrial Training Institute Bemina and Conference Hall at Directorate of Skill Development Bemina, Srinagar. 

The Workshop Block has been completed in three phases with the first phase being initiated by the executing agency PWD-R&B in the year 2017-18. All the phases have been completed in all respects.

Principal Secretary directed the concerned to speedily the operationalization of the lift and said that students should be provided all the facilities. While inaugurating the Workshop Block, Dr Samoon said that the government is committed for the welfare of the student community and is taking many initiatives for providing them better facilities. He said that the Workshop Block will provide hands-on training opportunities for the students and will help the students to become job ready.

Principal Secretary said that the skill set of students has to be enhanced and emphasised for providing quality teaching and other facilities to the students, adding that focus should be laid on strengthening of ITIs across the UT. He said that students should be exposed to the industrial set up and empower them through various training programmes. He further said that heritage courses should also be given a special focus in ITIs to preserve our traditional craft. He also interacted with the students and faculty there.

On the occasion, Dr Samoon also distributed certificates to pass out trainees in their respective fields and emphasised upon them not to keep their focus only towards government jobs but should be able to optimally utilise their skills for income generation. He also distributed certificates among the students of skill competitions organised by the Women ITI.

Dr Samoon was also briefed by the Principal ITI about the civil works under Capex budget at the Women ITI Bemina and was informed that macadamization of internal roads has been completed. It was also given out that renovation of ceiling of stenography trade and internal face lifting of workshop at Women ITI Bemina and renovation of wash room/restoration of sanitary disposal system has been completed.

Later, Principal Secretary also visited KGP Polytechnic Auditorium, Hostel new Block and also interacted with the faculty and students there.
