Pali (Samba): Prime Minister Narendera Modi Sunday stated that he has envisioned a new Jammu and Kashmir where the youth wouldn’t have to suffer like their parents and grandparents.
“I assure, rather promise that youth of J&K won’t see hardships and sufferings seen by their parents and grandparents,” PM Modi said after inaugurating various developmental projects here at Samba’s Palli Village.
The Prime Minister said that with the inauguration of projects worth Rs 20,000 crore related to connectivity and electricity in J&K, the local youth of the region would be immensely benefitted.
While distributing the Jan Aushadi cards among the beneficiaries, the Prime Minister claimed that the Jan Aushadi cards will help the poor people get medicines at an affordable price.
He also applauded the panchayat representatives of Jammu and Kashmir in general and panchayat Palli in particular for their commitment towards development.
“Today, I met panchayat representatives; heard them, their dreams and mission. I literally felt happy after seeing their commitment towards development. The Sarpanches and Panches of Jammu and Kashmir have shown me what Sab Ka Prayas actually is,” he said.
The Prime Minister said that in the past 10 days, villagers have been providing free food to guests coming to attend the rally. “I salute all the residents of Palli for their commitment,” PM Modi said, adding that “celebrating Panchayati Raj Diwas in J&K is a significant development. It is evident that democracy has reached to the grassroots level in J&K.”
The Prime Minister further stated that with the strengthening of Panchayati Raj Institution in J&K, the powers have been devolved to the Sarpanches and Panches who are now able to work for the welfare of the people deprived of development since decades.
“In J&K, there are more than 30,000 panchayati representatives who are now running governance related affairs. “For the first time, peaceful three-tier Panchayati elections were held here and this is the achievement of our government,” he said. “Past two years have seen tremendous development in J&K. Almost 200 new laws were extended to J&K and empowered people of this region.”
He said that the benefits of most central and state sponsored schemes reached to the needy in his government.
“The women, girls, Dalits, and people of Valmiki Samaj have suffered most in the erstwhile J&K. But today, I feel proud that they are standing in equality with rest of India,” the PM said.
Without naming anyone, the Prime Minister also took a dig at the successive previous governments in Jammu and Kashmir and Centre, who according to him, didn’t do much for the development of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that against Rs. 17000 crore invested by private players in the past seven decades in Jammu and Kashmir, Rs. 37000 crore private investment reached the UT in the past two years “and this is something significant”.
The PM also expressed pleasure over e-inaugurating the Rattle Power Project. “I see a huge potential in power sector in Jammu and Kashmir. Here Rattle, Kwar and other projects have the potential to provide 24*7 power to the people,” he said.
The PM further promised to strengthen the panchayats in Jammu and Kashmir—(KNO)
