Anantnag: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr Piyush Singla today ordered the immediate dismissal of 7 lumberdars and 1 chowkidar of Tehsils Anantnag and Bijbehara today following their involvement in encroachment of State/Kahcharie land.

Dr Singla said that there had been reports regarding land grabbing by lumberdars/chowkidars and taking cognizance of these reports action in the matter has been initiated.

Advocating a no non – sense approach, he said that persons who fail to deliver to their assigned tasks and whose actions are counterproductive to public interest will be taken to task as per law.

As per the order issued, the lumberdars/chowkidars instead of protecting State/Kahcharie land were found to be themselves involved in illegal grabbing on land causing loss to state exchequer.

It is in place to mention that the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir had issued directions for dismissal of such lumberdars/chowkidars who were found involved in land grabbing of State/kahcharie land.

The concerned Tehsildars have been directed to take necessary action regarding appointment of substitutes.
