Infiltration down in J&K: MHA
Srinagar: The infiltration cases in J&K are on decline as just 34 infiltration attempts were reported in year 2021, Ministry of Home Affairs said on Wednesday.
Replying to a question, Minister of State for Home, Nityanand Rai said that the cross-border infiltration has decreased significantly as 136 infiltration bids took place in year 2017, 143 in 2018, 138 in 2019, 51 in 2020 and 34 in 2021.
He also said that the government has adopted a multi -pronged approach to contain cross-border infiltration.
“This includes multi-tiered deployment along the International Border/Line of Control, border fencing, improved intelligence and operational coordination, equipping security forces with advanced weapons and taking proactive action against infiltrators,” he said.
