J&K logs 12 new COVID-19 cases

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday reported 12 fresh Covid cases that took the cumulative infection tally to 4,53,827, officials said.

Of the new cases, 11 were reported from Kashmir and one from the Jammu division, they said.

Srinagar district recorded 10 new cases while Bandipora and Jammu districts registered one case each, officials said, adding that 17 of the 20 districts in the Union Territory did not report any fresh case.

Currently there are 159 active cases — 144 in Kashmir and 15 in Jammu division — while the overall recoveries stand at 4,48,918, officials said.

The COVID-19 death toll stands at 4,750 — while 2,423 persons have died in Kashmir division, 2,327 have succumbed to the viral infection in Jammu division. No fresh Covid-related fatality was reported in the last 24 hours, officials said.

They said 15 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals including 14 from Kashmir and one from Jammu division in the last 24 hours.

There were 51 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) in the Union Territory, they added.

On vaccination, the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus informed that 16,652 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered so far across J&K to 2,22,34,443.
