Srinagar: Suspected militants on Monday evening shot at and injured a Kashmiri Pandit shopkeeper at Chotigam area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district while two non-locals were shot at in neighbouring Pulwama district earlier in the day.

Quoting officials, PTI reported that militants shot at the shopkeeper identified as Bal Krishan, son of Jankinath in Chotigam area of Shopian. He suffered injuries in his hand and leg. He was brought to an Army hospital in Srinagar where doctors stated his condition to be stable.

Earlier in the day, two more non-local labourers were shot at and injured by militants in Pulwama district, officials said.

This is the second attack by the militants on non-locals in less than 24 hours in the district.

“Terrorists opened fire on Patleshwar Kumar and Jako Chowdhary, both residents of Bihar, at Lajoora in Pulwama district this (Monday) afternoon,” the officials said.

They said the two injured men were rushed to a nearby hospital.

Further details are awaited, the officials added.

Militants had shot at and injured two non-locals in the Nowpora area of Pulwama on Sunday evening. They hailed from Pathankot Punjab.
