J&K logs 20 new cases of COVID-19

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 20 new positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative total of positive cases recorded thus far to 4,53,813, officials said Sunday.

They said 15 of the new cases were recorded from Kashmir and five from Jammu division of the Union Territory, even as 33 more COVID-19 patients who had recovered were discharged from various hospitals including two from Jammu division and 31 from Kashmir division in the last 24 hours.

No new case of Mucormycosis (black fungus) was reported today, they said.

On COVID, the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus informed that 4,014 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered so far across J&K to 2,22,01,364.

According to the bulletin, out of 4,53,813 positive cases recorded cumulatively so far, currently there are 167 active positive cases in J&K including 150 in Kashmir and 17 in Jammu division. So far 4,48,896 persons have recovered from the viral infection and 4,750 have died – 2,423 in Kashmir division and 2327 in Jammu division.

Providing district-wise breakup for positive cases reported today, the bulletin informed said that Srinagar reported 10 cases, Kupwara reported two cases and Anantnag reported three cases while Budgam, Pulwama, Kulgam, Baramulla, Bandipora, Shopian and Ganderbal reported no fresh cases today.

Similarly, Jammu reported four cases and Kathua reported one fresh case while as Doda, Rajouri, Kishtwar, Udhampur, Poonch, Samba, Reasi and Ramban reported no fresh cases today.

India logs 1,096 new COVID-19 cases

With 1,096 new coronavirus infections being reported in a day, India’s total tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 4,30,28,131, while the active cases dipped to 13,013, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday.

The death toll climbed to 5,21,345 with 81 fresh fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases comprise 0.03 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate remained at 98.76 percent, the ministry said.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.24 percent and the weekly positivity rate at 0.23 percent, according to the Health Ministry.

The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 184.66 crore.
