Srinagar: Anti Corruption Bureau trapped and arrested a Village Level Worker of Rural Development Department, Block Paran Pilan, Uri, for demanding an accepting bribe, the anti-graft agency said in a press release Saturday.

ACB spokesman said that the agency had received a complaint that Sahil Sagar, Village Level Worker (VLW), was demanding bribe of Rs 20,000 from complainant for processing case under PMAY(G) scheme.

The complainant, a resident of village Bandi Gujjar Basti, Uri, had already paid Rs 13000 to him on March 29, 2022, ACB said, adding that now Sagar was demanding remaining Rs 7000 from him.

After registering a case U/S 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988, a trap team was constituted, which caught the VLW red-handed while demanding and accepting bribe from complainant.

He was arrested on the spot and the bribe money was also recovered from his possession in presence of independent witnesses, ACB said, adding further investigations in the case are going on.
