Director Agriculture interacts with Agri-entrepreneurs at Gbl

Srinagar: The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal today visited Central Kashmir’s  Ganderbal district and had an interactive session with some progressive agri-entrepreneurs. 

Expressing his views during the session, the Director said that entrepreneurship in agriculture and allied wings is the future and the department is committed to the promotion and strengthening of entrepreneurship culture in the region. He said they are providing technical guidance to the intending Agri-entrepreneurs and various initiatives have already been taken up by the department in this direction.

Iqbal also highlighted various farmer friendly schemes which have been devised to transform the rural economy and requested the participating entrepreneurs to avail these schemes for sustenance and economic prosperity.

The Director assured the participants that the department is always at the back of the farming community and urged upon the officers to increase touring to the farmers field with latest recommendations and suggestions from agriculture universities and other institutions.

Director said that the Department has recently taken some initiatives which include Farmer Darbars, establishment of Model Farm Schools at district headquarters, holding of awareness camps and Kisan Melas, Exposure visits, introduction of farm mechanization for updating the common farmer and strengthening the entrepreneurship culture in the Agriculture Sector/Agri entrepreneurs of the district.

Chief Agriculture Officer Ganderbal Ajaz Ahmad highlighted the achievements made by the district at various levels.

During the interactive session one of the agri-entrepreneurs, Qazi Mubashir shared his experience with the participants and said that he has brought 40 kanals of barren land which is now under cultivation  with the support and technical guidance of the department. He said that he was successful in cultivating 14000 plants of water melon which resulted in him to fetch Rs 2.00 Lacs as income.
