Imtiyaz Memorial GDC Shopian organizes Annual Road Race events

SHOPIAN: Imtiyaz Memorial Government Degree College, Shopian today organised separate Annual Road Race events for Men and Women, here.

Both the races were flagged-off by Dr. Nisar Ahmad Wani at 6:45 a.m and 8:45 am respectively in presence of teaching and non teaching staff of the college.

The Race for male participants was started from College Campus and culminated at District Forest Office Padpawan Shopian and the race for female participants was conducted inside the college campus.

In the said event a good number of male and female students participated. Adequate and elaborate arrangements were made by the Sports Committee and Protocol Committee of the college to make the event a memorable and a successful one with the help of local police and health administration.

In the Men’s event Qammer Rubani from B.G 2nd semester achieved 1st position by covering a distance of 6.5 kms in 29 minutes and 07 seconds. Muneez Riyaz from B.G 2nd semester and Javaid Ahmad Bajran from 3rd semester secured second and third positions respectively.

In the Women’s event, Ulfat Jan from B.G 4th semester secured 1st position. Bazeela Bilal from B.G 2nd semester and Insha Ayoub from B.G 3rd semester secured 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

Later, the prize distribution ceremony was held at the college campus where the first, second and third positions from both the events were awarded trophies and medals by the senior faculty members along with the Convener Sports Committee of the college.

Principal of the College applauded the efforts of Convener Sports, Dr. Umar Farooq and Syed Latief Physical Director for making the event a successful one. He also praised the efforts of District Administration, Police and Health Departments in smooth conduction of the programme.
