Srinagar: The Health & Medical Education (H&ME) Department has installed an advanced Endoscopic Unit in Government Medical College (GMC), Baramulla to provide quality health care facilities to the people of North Kashmir.

The unit will strengthen the Gastroenterology Division of GMC Baramulla. Earlier, the patients were referred to other hospitals across Jammu and Kashmir for the treatment of health issues related to gastroenterology especially Endoscopy and Colonoscopy.

With the installation of endoscopic unit at GMC Baramulla, the people of North Kashmir will avail medical facilities like Endoscopy, Colonoscopy, Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and Fibroscan of Liver in the hospital.

Adding another milestone in the continuous journey towards excellence, the first Upper GI Endoscopy was performed today on the state-of -art system by the medical staff of the hospital under the supervision of senior doctors.

Speaking on the development, Dr Ruby Reshi, Principal, GMC Baramulla said that installation of Advanced Endoscopic Unit at GMC Baramulla is part of our continuous effort to improve the healthcare infrastructure in the Union territory. She added that this new facility will help the people of North Kashmir in availing better healthcare facilities close to their homes.

The H&ME department installed this equipment with an aim to start a full-fledged gastroenterology division in the hospital.
