Shopian: A Mega Block Diwas programme was conducted today at Sub Divisional Office Zainapora Shopian with Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole in Chair.

Among other, Chairperson District Development Council (DDC) Shopian, Biqees Jan; Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya;  SSP Shopian, Amrit Paul Singh; Chief Planning Officer, DDC Members, PRIs and Officers from line departments besides people in large numbers from various areas of Block Zainapora participated in the programme.

The DDC Members, PRIs on the occasion raised various issues and demands including scarcity of potable drinking water, Marriage Hall, upgradation of schools, uninterrupted power supply to the inhabitants of the various areas, road connectivity, play fields, irrigation facilities, completion of Zainapora-Bijbehara road and other demands of vital public importance.

The Div Com listened to them patiently and assured that all their genuine issues will be addressed in a time bound manner. He said that the aim of the Block Diwas programme is to listen to the demands of the general public at their door steps for effective resolution of issues faced by them.

He assured the completion of Zainapora Bijbehara road within stipulated time frame.

Highlighting the importance of road connectivity around Zainapora Block both for the general public and others, the Div Com directed the officials of R&B, PDD, PHE and Irrigation to ensure proper maintenance of all roads, irrigation canals, PHE Schemes etc.

The Divisional Commissioner added that people have a right to raise their issues so that their issues and demands will be redressed at an earliest in a given timeline. He added that the satisfactory redressal is the top most priority of the government.

Earlier, the DC apprised the Div Com about the functioning, achievements and progress made with respect to implementation of welfare and developmental activities of the government.
