Bandipora: The Member Parliament (MP), Baramulla Lok Sabha Constituency, Mohammad Akbar Lone Saturday chaired the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) at the Conference Hall of Mini- Secretariat here.

The meeting was attended by DDC chairman Abdul Gani Bhat, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad, Vice Chairman Kounser Shafeeq, SSP Mohammad Zahid, ADDC Ali Afsar Khan, Joint Director Planning, ACD, BDCs and other PRI members.

The MP took a comprehensive review of various schemes being implemented by the RDD, PWD, PDD, PHE, Health, Education, Agriculture, Horticulture, Social Welfare, Labour, Employment, Urban Development Department and other departments and asked the officers to work with dedication and missionary zeal and ensure that the benefits of all government schemes reach to the genuine beneficiaries in a time bound manner besides disseminating information about these schemes.

At the outset, the DC gave a detailed overview of the developmental scenario and progress achieved under different schemes/programmes, particularly in implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSSs) through a PowerPoint Presentation.

Dr Owais highlighted the major achievements in the district with regard to the development. He said 113 major projects have been taken up by the district administration under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) at the cost of Rs 309 Crore to provide pure drinking water supply to every household of the district. He said 3 major filtration plants, including Konan Mantrigam and Arin Filtration Plants, have been completed at the cost of Rs 3.57 Cr.

He said the current financial year has been a year of achievements for the district as Bandipora received the National Award for e-Governance during the 24th National Conference on e- Governance held at Hyderabad, Telangana. The first of its kind award has been conferred for the innovative digital product “Panchayat Development Index’’ launched by the Bandipora Administration.

Meeting was informed that the district administration macadamized a record 119 kilometers last year, and during the current year, about 170 kilometers were macadamized by the R&B, PMGSY and BEACON. 

It was given out that 253 works of the Rural Development Department have been completed out of the total 803 approved works executed under Area Development Fund, including DDC, BDC, and other PRI grants.

While informing about physical progress under Capex Budget from previous fiscal till date, he said that 2185 works have so far been completed out of the total target of 3339 works of last fiscal in various sectors including MGNREGA works, DDC Grants, BDC grants etc while 1033 works have been completed out of the target of 1530 works during the current fiscal. 

Dr Owais further informed that 3 Sq Kms critical area of Wullar has been cleared under Wullar Conservation Project, and 99 thousand willows have been extracted, generating an amount of Rs 21.8 Cr.

Addressing the officers, the MP said that the aim of holding the DISHA meeting was to identify the developmental requirements and facilitate smooth implementation of govt schemes in the district.

He stressed on achievement of physical as well as financial progress and targets set under different schemes. He directed the concerned departments to mobilize their men and machinery for effective implementation of all schemes and coverage of cent percent eligible beneficiaries under all schemes and also added to ensure that no eligible beneficiary is left out.

He also asked officers to ensure the successful implementation of different self-employment schemes for providing job opportunities to the youth of the district.

While appreciating the District Administration for its work in various sectors, the MP stressed on a prompt and efficient public delivery mechanism in the District and formulating plans for the overall prosperity and development of people.
