J&K logs 31 COVID-19 cases

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday logged 31 new positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) even as no virus-related death was reported, officials said.

Of the new cases, they said 16 were reported from Kashmir and 15 from the Jammu division — taking the total number of positive cases recorded so far in the UT to 4,53,245.

Officials said 54 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals including 32 from Jammu division and 22 from Kashmir in the last 24 hours.

No new case of Mucormycosis (black fungus) was reported today, they said.

On vaccination, the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus informed that 4,366 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered so far across J&K to 2,15,83,849.

According to the bulletin, out of 4,53,245 positive cases recorded cumulatively in J&K so far, currently there are 357 active positive cases in the UT including 181 in Kashmir and 176 in Jammu division, while 4,48,139 persons have recovered and 4,749 have died – 2,423 in Kashmir and 2,326 in Jammu division.

Providing district-wise breakup for positive cases reported today, the bulletin informed that Srinagar reported nine cases, Baramulla reported four cases, Kupwara reported two cases, Bandipora reported one case while as Budgam, Pulwama, Anantnag, Ganderbal, Kulgam and Shopian districts reported no fresh cases today.

Similarly, Jammu reported 13 cases, Kishtwar reported two cases, while Udhampur, Rajouri, Doda, Kathua, Samba, Poonch, Ramban and Reasi districts reported no fresh cases today.

Meanwhile  With 5,476 people testing positive for coronavirus infection in a day, India’s total tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 4,29,62,953, while the active cases dipped to 59,442, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday.

The death toll climbed to 5,15,036 with 158 fresh fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The daily COVID-19 cases have remained less than one lakh for 28 consecutive days.

The active cases comprise 0.14 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has further improved to 98.65 percent, the ministry said.

A reduction of 4,436 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,23,88,475 while the case fatality rate was recorded as 1.20 percent.

The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 178.83 crore.

The daily positivity rate was recorded as 0.60 percent and the weekly positivity rate as 0.77 percent, according to the ministry.

The 289 new fatalities include 124 from Kerala and 10 from Maharashtra.

A total of 5,15,036 deaths have been reported so far in the country.
