National Conference remembers Sheikh Nazir Ahmed

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President and Member of Parliament from Srinagar Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Thursday offered Fateha and floral tributes at the final resting place of the party stalwart and former party general secretary Sheikh Nazir Ahmed on his seventh death anniversary observance.

The Party President, who was in Jammu, reached Srinagar and straightway set out to offer floral tributes and Fateh at the final resting place of the party stalwart Nazir at Malik Sahib Shrine in Soura.

On the occasion, Dr Farooq said, “Virtues like sincerity, conviction, perseverance and loyalty, which are rare among the contemporary breed of politicians formed the template of his personal life and politics.”

“Uncompromising on his principles and beliefs, which he had inherited from Sheikh Sahib, Nazir Sahib was a strong spirited person, whose contribution towards strengthening the party at grassroots level will be remembered for all the times to come. On his seventh death anniversary, I may my humble tributes to him and pray to almighty to elevate his stations in the Jannat,” he said.

Earlier, party functionaries led by General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, Additional GS Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, Central Secretary Irfan Ahmed Shah, Zone President Dr Bashir Ahmed Veeri, Provincial Secretary Showkat Ahmed Mir, District Presidents Peer Afaq, Abdul Majeed Bhat Larmi, Political  Advisor to VP Tanvir Sadiq, Block Presidents, YNC functionaries also visited the veteran leader’s final resting place at Malik Sahib Soura, where they offered floral tributes and congregational Fatiha prayers.

Speaking on the occasion, Sagar said, “Nazir Sahib was a pillar of strength for the party. He was looked up to for inspiration by all. The best tribute to him on his death anniversary would be by imbibing the zest with which he served the party. His doors were always open for the party workers. A go-to person for the party workers. He was always concerned about the party’s grassroots level workers. He belonged to the tribe of those great men and women, who suffered immensely alongside Sheikh Sahab for the restoration of the rights of people of Jammu and Kashmir. On his death anniversary, I pay my earnest tributes to him. May Almighty grant him the highest stations in Jannah.”

While traveling from Jammu to Srinagar earlier today, Dr Farooq made a brief stopover at district Ramban, where he presided over a commemorative meeting convened by district President Ramban Sajjad Shaheen on the death anniversary observance of Sheikh Nazir Sahib. On the occasion the party’s local unit functionaries joined the party president in offering Fatiha for the party stalwart.

Similar commemorative function was held at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan, Jammu where the party’s Provincial President Rattan Lal Gupta led the functionaries in paying rich tributes to the veteran leader on his death anniversary. Among others Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan, Mubarak Gul, Ajay Sadhotra, Nazir Gurezi, Javed Dar, Babu Rampal, AG Teli, Sheikh Bashir, Satwant Kour Dogra, Aijaz Jan & other party leaders were also present on the occasion.
