Kupwara: Police on Thursday claimed to have solved three cases of theft by arresting six accused with stolen property in Kupwara.

Police in a statement said it has arrested six burglars from different areas of Kupwara district and recovered the stolen property including Jewellery and utensils worth lakhs of rupees from their possession.

Police said during investigations into three cases of theft, six suspects identified as Danish Manzoor alias Chota Danish, son of Mohammad Manzoor of Tikker; Ali Mohammad Peer, son of Mohammad Asdullah Peer of Heeri; Azad Ahmad Wani, son of Gulam Ahmed Wani, resident of Doonivari, Lolab; Abdul Rasheed Malik, son of Ghulam Nabi Malik of Malik Mohalla Kupwara; Irshad Ahmad Chopan, son of Sonaullah Chopan of Tikker; and Mudasir Ahmad Lone alias Mud Chour, son of Abdul Majeed Lone, a resident of Mughalpora, Kupwara were arrested.

During questioning, they confessed to their involvement in theft cases and upon their disclosure stolen items belonging to the victims were recovered and also identified by the complainants, police said.

The stolen items include jewellery worth Rs 2.0 lahs, copper utensils worth Rs 1.5 lakhs, one laptop, an induction heater and some cigarette packets, police said, adding that investigation of all these cases is going on and that they are expecting some more arrests in coming days.
