Director H&H inaugurates extension unit of Weavers Service Centre at Janipur

JAMMU: Director Handicrafts and Handloom, Jammu, Dr Vikas Gupta, inaugurated extension branch of Weavers Service Centre, Srinagar, being run by the office of Development Commissioner for Handlooms, Union Ministry of Textiles at Janipur, Jammu.

Joint Director Handloom, Deputy Director Planning, Deputy Director Trainings, Assistant Director, Weavers Service Centre, Bemina, Srinagar and others officials from Handicrafts and Handloom department were present on the occasion.

Vikas Gupta said that establishment of this extension centre was a long pending demand of weaver community of Jammu since 2004. He added that the Centre will play a pivotal role in upgrading and promoting the weaving craft in Jammu division by providing technical assistance, skill up gradation training to the beneficiaries through Samarth Scheme besides raising awareness regarding various central welfare schemes. “It will further facilitate weavers to get GI registration and handloom marks,” he asserted.
