Poonch Admin intensifies efforts to crack whip on illegal mining, overcharging of minerals

POONCH: Intensifying its efforts to crack whip on illegal mining and overcharging of minerals, a joint team of Mining and Police departments, on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Inder Jeet, today laid Nakas at different locations to book the defaulters.

On the basis of the complaints, the team laid nakas and seized 3 dumps in block Mendhar with the assistance of police authority, particularly S.H.O Mendhar. A fine of Rs.48000 was recovered from the defaulters on the spot.

District Mining Officer, Javid Iqbal said that the team will continue its efforts and take all necessary steps to curb the illegal mining in the district.

He also made it clear that strict action will be taken against the stone crushers found overcharging from the public in violation of notified rates issued by the government.
