Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday recorded 151 new positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), even as no virus-related fatality was reported, officials said.

Of the fresh cases, officials said 90 were reported from Jammu division and 61 from Kashmir – taking the cumulative total of positive cases detected so far in Jammu and Kashmir to 4,52,306.

Moreover, 496 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals including 268 from Kashmir and 228 from Jammu division in the last 24 hours.

No new case of Mucormycosis (black fungus) was reported today, they said.

On vaccination, the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus informed that 10,370 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered so far across J&K to 2,13,48,995.

According to the bulletin, out of 4,52,306 positive cases recorded so far, currently there are 1,949 active positive cases in J&K including 1,030 in Jammu division and 919 in Kashmir, while as 4,45,611 persons have recovered and 4,746 have died – 2,422 in Kashmir and 2,324 in Jammu division.

Providing district-wise breakup for positive cases reported today, the bulletin said that Srinagar reported 29 cases, Baramulla reported five cases, Budgam four cases, Pulwama reported seven cases, Kupwara eight cases, Anantnag reported three cases, Bandipora reported two cases, Kulgam reported three cases while as no case was reported from Ganderbal and Shopian districts today.

Similarly, Jammu reported 43 cases, Udhampur seven cases, Rajouri   reported two cases, Doda reported 25 cases, Kathua four cases, Kishtwar reported four cases and Ramban reported five cases while no new cas was reported in Poonch, Samba and Reasi districts today.

Meanwhile daily new COVID-19 cases in India fell below 20,000 after 51 days, taking the total virus tally to 4,28,22,473, while the active cases dipped to 2,24,187, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday.

A total of 19,968 cases have been reported in a day while the death toll climbed to 5,11,903 with 673 fresh fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The daily COVID-19 cases have remained below one lakh for 14 consecutive days.

India reported 16,764 corornavirus infections on December 30 last year.

The active cases comprise 0.52 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has further improved to 98.28 percent, the ministry said.

A reduction of 29,552 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was recorded as 1.68 percent while the weekly positivity rate was recorded as 2.27 percent, according to the ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,20,86,383, while the case fatality rate was recorded as 1.20 percent.

The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 175.37 crore.
