J&K logs 166 cases of COVID-19

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday recorded 166 fresh Covid cases, which took the tally to 4,52,155, while no death due to the virus was reported in the past 24 hours, officials said.

Out of the fresh cases, 103 were reported from the Jammu division and 63 from the Kashmir division of the Union Territory, they said.

The officials said Jammu district recorded the highest of 51 cases followed by 23 cases in Doda district.

The death toll in Jammu and Kashmir due to the pandemic is 4,746 as no fresh fatality was reported in the past 24 hours, the officials said.

Meanwhile, the officials said, there were 51 confirmed cases of Mucormycosis (black fungus) in the union territory as no fresh case was reported since last evening.

On vaccination, the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus informed that 23,670 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered so far across J&K to 2,13,36,129.

According to the bulletin, out of 4,52,155 positive cases recorded cumulatively so far, currently there are 2,294 active positive cases in J&K, including 1,168 in Jammu division and 1,126 in Kashmir, while as 4,45,115 persons have recovered and 4,746 have died – 2,422 in Kashmir and 2,324 in Jammu division.

Giving district-wise breakup for positive cases reported today, the bulletin said that Srinagar reported 21 cases, Baramulla four cases, Budgam four cases, Pulwama three cases, Kupwara reported 13 cases, Anantnag reported six cases, Bandipora reported 10 cases, Ganderbal two cases while as Kulgam and Shopian reported no fresh cases today.

Similarly, Jammu reported 51 cases, Reasi reported four cases, Udhampur reported five cases, Rajouri one case, Doda reported 23 cases, Kathua reported eight cases, Samba reported pone case, Poonch three cases, Kishtwar reported two cases while as Ramban reported five fresh cases today.

Meanwhile  India’s COVID-19 tally climbed to 4,28,02,505 on Saturday with 22,270 more people testing positive for the viral disease, while the number of active cases came down to 2,53,739, according to Union health ministry data.

The death toll reached 5,11,230 with 325 fresh fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.

Daily COVID-19 cases in the country have remained below one lakh for 13 consecutive days now.

The 2,53,739 active cases comprise 0.59 percent of the total infections. The national COVID-19 recovery rate has further improved to 98.21 percent, the ministry said.

A reduction of 38,353 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.80 percent, while the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 2.50 percent, the ministry said.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,20,37,536. The case fatality rate stood at 1.19 percent, it said.

The cumulative number of doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 175.03 crore.
