Cop injured in grenade attack in Srinagar

Srinagar: A policeman was injured in a grenade attack in Khwaja Bazaar area of the old city on Friday, officials said.

Police said that militants hurled a grenade in Khwaja Bazar area of Nowhatta at around 1pm leaving a policeman injured while three readymade garments’ shops were damaged in the attack.

The injured policeman identified as Ashiq Hussain was taken to the police hospital from where he was discharged after receiving first-aid.

Sources said the window dressing of three readymade garments shops were completely destroyed in the incident.

Following the incident, a joint team of police and CRPF cordoned off the entire area and started searches to nab the assailants.
