IISM Gulmarg completes its 4th Ski Course

Srinagar: Indian Institute of Skiing & Mountaineering (IISM) completed its 4th snow skiing course today in which 54 students from all over the country participated including many from Kashmir.

“An impressive graduation ceremony was held in the Institute in which Maj General R K Singh Commandant HAWS and Gh Jeelani Zargar, CEO, GDA were the main guests who gave away the prizes to the winner’s of various events. Due to pandemic, institute was forced to cancel 3rd ski course but were able to conduct this course successfully after taking due precautions with limited strength,” said the spokesperson of IISM.

“J S Dhillon welcomed the guests and briefed about the various activities being undertaken by the institute. He said that adventure training is very essential part of our education. He said IISM is the best institute in South East Asia where students are provided accommodation in a centrally heated building. The institute has world class ski equipments, snow mobiles and an excellent team of instructors to impact training of very high standard. Adventure training motivates students to face all challenges of life in cheerful ways. Institute provides best administration in its new building where all comforts are provided to all students,” the spokesperson said.

“Gen Singh expressed his deep sense of satisfaction on the excellent conduct of training by IISM. He said he is very happy to see the hard work put in by Col Dhillon and staff of IISM not only to revive this institute but also make in the best in South East Asia. He said such courses are very important to make our youth self reliant. He appreciated the extracurricular activities under taken by the institute to develop overall personality of the students. He told that in such courses one develops a strong bonding with their peers which lasts for rest of their life. He said institute is fully revived by Col J S Dhillon and its standards are as good as any of the best ski school of the world,” he said.

“Gh Jeelani Zargar, CEO Gulmarg appreciated the efforts of Col Dhillon and staff to revive this institute despite all shortfalls and challenges. He said that students from all over the country train with students from Kashmir making IISM as best platform of National integration. He said that GDA will take expert advice of Col Dhillon to make Gulmarg as best ski resort of world,” the spokesperson said.

“Jeelani said that Kashmir is the most beautiful place on the earth and students after completing this course should become our ambassadors to tell their families and friends to visit Gulmarg and enjoy this paradise. Students expressed their deep sense of satisfaction on high standards of the institute. They all praised Principal, instructors and staff for giving them best training of their life time. Institute is planning many summer courses and is immensely contributing to promote tourism in Kashmir and Gulmarg in particular,” he added.
