Srinagar: Police on Saturday said it has arrested three accused persons for their alleged involvement in kidnapping and sexually assaulting a minor girl. The car used in commission of crime has also been seized.

Giving details, a police spokesperson informed that on Friday (Feb 11, 2022), Police Station Bemina received a complaint from a resident of Mansoor Colony Bemina that his minor daughter had been abducted by unknown persons.

Accordingly, a case (FIR No. 02/2022) was registered and investigations initiated.

Subsequently, a special team was constituted which recovered the missing girl from TRC Srinagar, police said.

During the course of investigation, it surfaced that the minor girl was kidnapped by three persons and was assaulted sexually. Raids were conducted at several locations and all the three accused involved in crime were arrested, police said while identifying the accused as Basit Ali, son of Ali Mohammad Dar; Irfan Ahmad Najar, son of Abdul Rashid, both residents of Fruit Mandi, Parimpora; and Firdous Ahmad Angher, son of  Gulzar Ahmad, resident of Beerwah, Budgam.

Necessary medico-legal formalities were carried out and the girl was handed over to her legal heirs, police said.

The car used in the commission of this heinous crime has been seized, he said. Further investigation in this case is in progress.
