During the visit, the DC and SSP interacted with the parents of the survivor and while expressing anguish at the incident, conveyed their solidarity to the survivor and her family, said the spokesman.

He further said that the DC handed over a cheque of Rs 1 lakh out of District Red Cross Fund as an immediate assistance to the survivor’s family and also assured all possible support from the District Administration Srinagar.

While interacting with the Medical Superintendent SMHS Hospital, Dr Kanwal Jeet Singh and other Doctors, the DC enquired about the medical treatment being provided to the survivor and was informed that all the best medical facilities are being given and utmost care is being provided. The doctors are monitoring her condition and the survivor is in stable condition, said the spokesman.

They family thanked SSP Srinagar for apprehending the accused within no time and demanded harshest punishment under the law, said the spokesman.

Meanwhile, Jammu Kashmir Apni Party president Muhammad Altaf Bukhari Thursday said that he will bear the entire expenses for the treatment of a Srinagar girl injured in an acid attack two days ago.

The girl was injured in the attack on Tuesday evening. Police on Wednesday arrested three men including the main accused in the case.

Condemning the attack on the girl, Bukhari, in a statement said that he and his party will foot the bill of entire expenditure on the treatment of the survivor.

Bukhari also visited SMHS Hospital Srinagar to inquire the status of her health.

He said that whether on the medical front or legal front, he will foot the bill from his own pocket.

“Keep politics aside, it is the human issue that should be looked at through the prism of humanity,” he said adding that if the family wants to shift the survivor outside Kashmir, he will bear all the expenses.

The Apni Party chief urged the government to “take every step to ensure that exemplary punishment is awarded to the accused involved in such a dastardly act”.

“Such offenders do not deserve leniency,” he said and hailed the role of police for their speedy action.

“This act has made me feel ashamed as our own children from Srinagar committed a heinous crime by throwing acid on a young girl; those behind the crime must be dealt with strictly,” he said.

He also appealed to the parents to have a close watch on their children for the reason that crimes involving the younger generation are on the rise in the society.
