DG Horticulture conducts extensive tour of south Kashmir

Visits scores of warehouses, takes stock of availability of HMO

SRINAGAR: The Director General (DG) Horticulture, Kashmir, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat today conducted an extensive tour of South Kashmir to take stock of availability of Horticulture Mineral Oil (HMO).

The visit was a part of the Department’s campaign against the spurious and unauthorized sale of pesticide and Horticulture Mineral Oils in the valley.

On the occasion, the DG visited scores of warehouses located in South Kashmir particularly in Shopian District.

Meanwhile, so far more than one Lakh liters of HMO was found stocked in contravention of the provisions of the Insecticides Act, 1968 and rules made thereafter, and necessary action as warranted was taken by the Enforcement Wing of the Department.

Speaking on the occasion, the DG said that the Department will ensure that the supply, dumping and distribution of Tree Spray Oil (TSO)/Horticulture Mineral Oil (HMO) will not take place unless duly authorized/registered with the Central Insecticides Board.

He further added that the campaign will continue with more intensity and no unregistered product shall be allowed for sale and any violation in this regard shall strictly be dealt as per the provisions of the law.
