JAMMU: Apni Party President Syed Mohammed Altaf Bukhari on Saturday said that Udhampur has become victim of political and administrative ignorance with regard to development, health care facility, road connectivity, tourism promotion and employment.
Altaf Bukhari was speaking at a review meeting of Udhampur’s District Committee in which threadbare discussions were held regarding organizational issues, developmental, growing unemployment, poor health care infrastructure, tourism and other related issues.
During the meeting the District Committee apprised the Party President about difficulties being faced by the people due to underdevelopment in villages, hilly areas and even in Udhampur town which falls under the Municipal Limits.
Referring to the serious negligence on the Part of political representatives from the district and administration serving in the District, he said that “It is unfortunate to note about the poor condition of road connectivity, crumbling health sector, hardly any attempt to explore tourism in the district, promotion of religious/tourist spots.”
“Udhampur is facing multiple problems with regard to development which shows that politically as well as administratively the district has remained neglected. The remote areas are in adverse condition with shabby condition of road connectivity in Chenani, Ramnagar, Latti, Basantgarh, Panchari, and other areas, inadequate doctors/paramedical staff in hospitals, electricity and other related issues of the people still remains unaddressed,” he said after hearing from the District Committee Udhampur.
He said there is a need to promote religious tourism and other unexplored tourist spots in the district. “We have Sudh Mahadev Temple, Pingla Mata, Chontra Mata, Sukrala Mata, Marhada Mata, Narsingh Temple, Gadseri Talab, Dalsar Lake, Mansar Lake in Udhampur district. Besides, Ramnagar Fort, Samadi Talab in Ramnagar and other areas still need the attention of the tourism department for its promotion at the national as well as international level. The funds for these projects should be provided as per requirement for the development of these places,” he said.
He also expressed concern over growing unemployment in the district following which the youth are compelled by the circumstances to go out of their home town to find work.
“When we have enough potential to promote tourism, why the above place cannot be promoted and developed so that the local population can get employment at the doorstep,” he added.
Referring to the adverse condition of Udhampur-Ramnagar road, he said that “The patch work is usually done on the above said road which needs to be widened being one of the oldest roads as it connects Ramnagar and Basantgarh with the District and rest of J&K.”
He also urged that the district should have an adequate number of specialized doctors in Govt hospitals/PHCs especially in remote villages.
Meanwhile, the District Committee of Apni Party has also demanded that Panchari-Bamag should be declared as a separate assembly constituency in the District.
