Missing tourist guide’s body found in Drang area of Tangmarg

Gulmarg: Body of local tourist guide, who reportedly went missing in Gulmarg, Wednesday, while guiding a group of trekkers, was retrieved from Drang area of Tangmarg on Thursday.

Police said that after a group of tourists reported that their guide, a local- Firdous Ahmad Bhat S/O Ghulam Mohammad Bhat of Katipora-had gone missing while guiding the group from Kangdori to Gulmarg, police took cognizance of the matter and initiated a rescue operation.

He had halted on way while asking the tourists to continue the movement during late night on Wednesday. As the guide didn’t reach the destination, the trekkers approached police informing them about the incident, a police official said.

“Three rescue teams were involved in the rescue operation besides the army and locals”, the police official told Kashmir Images adding that the body of the missing tourist was retrieved from Drang Tangmarg on Thursday.

The family of the guide has been informed and the body would be handed over to them after medical and legal formalities, police said.
