DC Ramban discusses modalities for de-launching, re-launching of Maitra Bailey Suspension Bridge

RAMBAN: Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mussarat Islam today chaired a meeting to discuss the issues pertaining to the de-launching and re-launching of the Bailey Suspension Bridge (Jhoola Bridge) over river Chenab here at Maitra.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Harbans Sharma; Project Director NHAI, Parshotam Kumar; OC 52-RCC Batote, representative of 35 BRTF, Police, Traffic Police and other concerned officers attended the meeting.

During the meeting the issues related to de-launching and re-launching of Bailey bridge were discussed in detail.

It was informed in a meeting that the National Highway Authority of India has approved the project of Rs. 493.11 Lakh for the de-launching of the existing Bailey Suspension Bridge and launching of 240 ft CI-40R BSB and protection work over river Chenab at KM 149 on old alignment road.

The DC directed the NHAI and BRO to complete the codal formalities and sign MoU with each other in the month of February to facilitate the construction work on the bridge project by the end of March.

The DC directed the PD, NHAI to organize a follow up meeting for consultations with all stakeholders to ensure smooth and timely execution of the work.  He also directed the BRO to stay prepared for completing the de-launching and re-launching of Bailey bridge before May 15, 2022.
