Srinagar: One militant was apprehended by security forces in Rajpora area of Pulwama district, a defence spokesman said.

“On receiving specific input from JKP, regarding movement of an unidentified terrorist in Pachahar area of Pulwama district of South Kashmir, a joint Mobile Vehicle Check Post was placed on Pachahar- Rajpora road by Indian Army, JKP and CRPF at about 12:30 PM on 20 January 2022,” the spokesman said in a statement issued today.

He said that around 01:30 PM, an individual roaming in suspicious manner was intercepted by troops who tried to flee from the area and in doing so, also tried to fire upon own troops.

“The security forces showed extreme restraint and did not retaliate owing to presence of civilians in the area. The fleeing terrorist was subsequently overpowered and apprehended. No collateral damage to life or property was reported,” he said.

He said that the apprehended militant was identified as Rahil Ahmed Dar, son of Shaukat Ahmed Dar of Village Drabgham.

“He is from JeM and had been active in the area since 20 December 2021. One pistol and other war like stores were recovered from him,” said the spokesman.
