J&K receives KRIBHCO Urea Rake after 30 years

Jammu: To ensure and streamline the supply of quality fertilizer to the farmers, a team of officers led by Director Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare, Jammu, (who is also Controller of Fertilizer, J&K  UT) K. K. Sharma today conducted intensive  inspection  at Fertilizer Rake Point, Udhampur.

On the occasion, the Director received Urea Fertilizer Rake of Krishak Bharati Cooperative Limited (KRIBHCO) Company after a period of 30 years.

Controller Fertilizer informed that the Urea rake containing 2652 MTs of Urea has been received at Udhampur Rake point for distribution in Kashmir valley. He said that earlier four companies (IFFCO, IPL, NFL and CFCL) are providing the fertilizers and by starting operation of KRIBHCO, fertilizer requirements of UT will be meet efficiently and no shortage will be faced by farmers.

The Director Agriculture stressed on to speed up the process of loading and transportation of fertilizer to valley so as to ensure the smooth and timely supply of fertilizer to the farmers and fruit growers of Kashmir division. He directed the concerned to make adequate arrangements to protect the fertilizer lot in case of sudden hostile weather. He also emphasized for hassle free and equitable supply of fertilizers to the doorsteps of the farmers in time in all the regions and districts of the state.

It was given out that during Rabi 2021-22, 18053 MTs Urea, 17420 MTs DAP and 4355 MTs MOP have been received and distributed in J&K UT till date.

Chief Agriculture Officer Udhampur, Sanjay Verma; Manager (F&A) KRIBHCO, Vijay Kumar Chawala; Assistant Director Law Enforcement, Tilak Raj Sharma; Technical officer Fertilizer, Santosh Bhat, and other officers of district Udhampur also accompanied the Director during the visit.

Later, the Director Agriculture chaired a review meeting at Agriculture complex, Udhampur and took stock of the various farmers’ welfare activities being carried out in the district. He directed the officers to motivate the farmers to adopt latest farming inputs in the fields for higher returns. He also impressed upon the officers to put it all out efforts to implement the departmental schemes in letter and spirit.

Meanwhile on the way, the Director Agriculture also inspected the seed multiplication farm, Kawa and Tikri. At Tikri, he also issued 172 Cards under PM Man Dhan Yojana to the farmers.
