J&K reports 2456 new Covid positive cases; 05 deaths

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir continued to show an alarming trend vis-à-vis Covid-19 infections with 2456 testing positive on Friday in the Union Territory.

Kashmir division reported 1522 fresh cases while as Jammu division reported 934. With these fresh cases the total number of positive cases in the UT has risen to 352623, officials said today.

Five more infection related deaths were also reported in the UT – three from Jammu and two from Kashmir division, officials said.

Officials said that out of 352623 positive cases, 10003are Active Positive (4802in Jammu division and 5201in Kashmir division), 338063 have recovered and 4557 have died; 2216 in Jammu division and 2341in Kashmir division.

Jammu district once again topped in the number of positive cases (588), followed by Srinagar (464) and Baramulla (457) respectively.

Budgam reported 139 cases, Kupwara 104 cases, Kulgam 120 cases and Anantnag reported 101 cases.

Rest of the Valley districts barring Shopian reported cases in two digits with Bandipora 95, Pulwama 22 and Ganderbal reported 12 cases.

Shopian district reported the lowest 08 fresh cases.

In Jammu division, Reasidistrict reported the second highest number of cases (90), followed by Udhampur (55) and Kathua (52).

Ramban district reported the lowest four cases while as Rajourireported 29cases, Doda 8, Kathua 52, Samba 16, Poonch 49 and Kishtwar reported 33 cases.

Giving details about the vaccination drive, the officials said that 72,309doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered across J&K to1,97,41,706.
