10 fresh cases of Omicron detected in J&K

Srinagar: Ten cases of Omicron were detected in J&K taking the tally of total detected cases to 13, officials said on Tuesday.

Officials said that that the first case of Omicron was detected in Kashmir on Monday while four more were detected today.

He said that three among the five detected cases were tourists whose samples were taken in Anantnag and they have already returned back.

They said that a pregnant woman from Uri and another person from Shopian, who too have tested positive for Omicron variant, are stable and have recovered as well.

“Robust teams are working to trace contact of the two persons who have been tested positive for Omicron,” an official said.

Chief Medical Officer CMO Baramulla Dr Bashir Ahmad told Kashmir Images that sample of a pregnant woman from Dhanisayden Uri was taken on 20 December 2021 at SDH Uri for Omicron test after she had tested positive for Covid.

He further said that the test reports suggest that she has been infected by the Omicron variant.

He, however, he said that she was stable.

“Omicron has finally made its way to Kashmir. 05 cases detected. Stay safe stay healthy. Follow Covid appropriate Behavior, follow Sops,” Directorate of Health Services Kashmir spokesperson, Dr Mir Mushtaq tweeted.

Meanwhile, five fresh cases of Omicron variant were detected in Jammu on Tuesday.

Dr Shashi Sudan, Principal GMC Jammu told KNO that five fresh cases of omicron were detected in Jammu division on Tuesday whose samples were taken in last month.

One patient belongs to Channi Himmat while the other one is from Canal road, officials said.

It is pertinent to mention here that earlier three cases of Omicron were detected in Jammu including two women from Saraswati Vihar in Talab Tillo Bohri and a student of Kendriya Vidyalaya Bantalab, however, all three patients have already recovered
