Srinagar: The Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole today chaired a meeting regarding construction of Srinagar-Baramulla-Uri (SBU) road and Rafiabad-Kupwara-Chowkibal-Tanghdar-Chamkote road.

The meeting was attended by Chief Conservator of Forests; Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla; ADC, Kupwara; Chief Engineer, Beacon; officers of J&K Pollution Control Board, NHIDCL, NHAI, Geology and Mining.

At the outset, Chief Engineer Beacon gave a  presentation on  package wise details of roads, physical status of two proposed roads, land acquisition & measurement, issues related to forest department, Pollution Control Board, sand and stone quarrying, utility shifting and other matters.

On the occasion, Div Com said that construction of two roads will facilitate people with quick mobility.

He directed DCs to take cognizance of issues faced by the executing agency and sort out the issues in a time bound manner.

Regarding land acquisition, he also directed them to conduct the joint demarcation with involved departments and prepare the papers of the land.

The meeting was informed that the district administration’s will provide all the support regarding removal of encroachment of land at certain places besides will provide  sand and other material required for the construction of roads as soon the places are identified by the agencies.

The meeting was also informed by DC Baramulla that progress had been made in the land acquisition and the process will be expedited.
