T20 Cricket Tournament concludes in Budgam

Srinagar:  Valedictory function of T20 Cricket Tournament was held yesterday at Sports Stadium Budgam. The final match of the T20 cricket tournament was played between FCC Budgam and Soibug-11, said a police spokesperson.

“On the closing ceremony, DIG CKR Sujit Kumar Singh was Chief Guest. SSP Budgam Tahir Saleem, ASP Budgam and other officers of Police attended the closing ceremony,” the spokesperson said.

“The final match was played at  Sports Stadium Budgam between FCC Budgam and Soibug 11 in which FCC Budgam emerge as winners of the tournament by defeating Soibug 11 by 59 runs.  The tournament was played on knock out basis. Twenty teams drawn from entire district Budgam participated in the tournament with great enthusiasm, passion and valour. Earlier, Soibugh 11 won the toss and chose to bowl first, FCC Budgam set target of 218 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 4 wickets, In reply in an interesting match, Soibugh 11 could score 159 runs all out in 17.1 overs. Feroz Ahmed from team FCC Budgam was chosen as man of the match and man of the series also,” he said.

“While speaking on the closing ceremony, DIG CKR Sujit Kumar Singh said that J&K Police has always been on the forefront in providing platform to youth and guide them in following their goals by organizing different events across J&K. He also presented trophies to winner team FCC Budgam and runner up team Soibugh 11,” the spokesperson said.

“On the occasion, the winning team members were felicitated with trophy, medals, cash prize of Rs 10,000/- while as runner-up team members were also facilitated with trophy, medals and cash prize of Rs 7, 000,” he said.

“While addressing the participants, SSP Budgam Tahir Saleem thanked the participating teams for their sportsmanship and enthusiasm during the tournament. He also presented a trophy to DIG CKR Srinagar as a token of love and thanked him for gracing the closing ceremony event and for encouraging the youth towards sports activities,” he added.
