Srinagar: The University of Kashmir has issued the advertisement notification for the post of Vice Chancellor as per the UGC regulations and other set norms.

Refuting reports in a section of the press that the said advertisement has been issued in violation of UGC guidelines, a KU spokesperson said the UGC regulations of 2018, which have been adopted by the University Council, have been strictly followed while issuing the advertisement.

The said advertisement, he said, has been issued after due consultation and approval of the Search Committee Chairperson.

The spokesperson said the University doesn’t take the onus of any other institution having issued its advertisement in accordance with some other norms.

“Our University hasn’t deviated from the UGC regulations 2018,” he said.

He said the UGC Regulations 7.3 state that “A person possessing the highest level of competence, integrity, morals and institutional commitment is to be appointed as Vice-Chancellor. The person to be appointed as a Vice-Chancellor should be a distinguished academician, with a minimum of ten years of experience as Professor in a University or ten years of experience in a reputed research and/or academic administrative organisation with proof of having demonstrated academic leadership.”

“Hence, the allegation that the advertisement is not in sync with the established norms is refuted as baseless and far from the truth,” he said.

Pertinently, the advertisements for posts of VC CUK and VC IUST were issued as per similar guidelines as those followed by Kashmir University.
