BJPs diatribe on Art 370 reflective of their flawed version of history: Dr Mustafa Kamal
FacebookTwitterWhatsapp

Jammu:  The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Additional General Secretary Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal on Sunday asserted that persistent political uncertainty that has wrapped Jammu and Kashmir is growing day by day.

In a statement issued here, Dr Kamal said, “It all started building on 5 August 2019 when BJP back-peddled on the solemn promises of the nation to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The government of India seems clueless about Jammu and Kashmir, where anxieties of people, young and old have only deepened since August 05. It is all clear as mud. In the newly introduced Jammu and Kashmir Development Act, the term permanent resident of the State as a criterion has been completely omitted. While offering to secure the land, jobs, domicile laws and identity of people of Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir is being put up for sale. Such moves, it goes without saying, only add up the prevailing anxiety levels of people.”

He contended that the vacillating approach of GOI domicile laws and State subject laws, real estate summit  and delimitation draft of Assembly segments have reinforced the fears among local population about demographic changes in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Had GOI been sincere it would have not turned blind eye to the local businesses? When the government of India announced a Rs 21 lakh crore economic package to reopen the economy across the country, the Valley businesses lamented they have been kept out of the package,” he said.

He further stated that there is a global spotlight over how New Delhi is treating the people of J&K, and Kashmiris in particular. “It is never an event. It is always a process of several steps, at times far from one another, that slowly progresses towards the goal. And the process is always difficult to comprehend in real time. It’s deliberately built to confuse. This is what the ruling dispensation is up to in J&K,” he added.

He further stated that there are several layers to this process, which are running simultaneously to fully implement RSS’s ideological and civilizational project in J&K. “While the legislative and administrative measures are being introduced on a day to day basis, the delimitation draft and Real estate summit are an essential step to permanently disable even a remote chance for a pause or reversal of this process in future,” he added.

Throwing his weight behind the unified struggle of PAGD led by Dr Farooq Abdullah, Kamal maintained that in pursuit of the ongoing struggle, people are with him.
