NC functionaries protest against Delimitation Commission Draft

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Saturday staged a peaceful protest against, what the party called, the illegal detention of the party leadership and Delimitation Commission Draft.

In a statement issued here, a NC spokesperson said: “Following the illegal detention of the Party President Dr. Farooq Abdullah, and Vice President Omar Abdullah ahead of participation of the peaceful Sit-in of PAGD, Scores of Party’s Parent body, Women’s Wing and YNC functionaries staged a peaceful demonstration holding placards condemning the illegal detention of the party leadership and reproving the Delimitation commission Draft.”

“Those who were able to participate in the protest march include Party State Women’s wing president Shameema Firdous, Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar, YNC Provincial President Salman Ali Sagar, Syed Tauqeer Ahmed, YNC Zone in charges, block presidents, YNC district Presidents, Women’s Wing functionaries. The peaceful protest march was foiled by the police and numerous party functionaries and workers were also bundled up on the occasion,” the spokesperson said.

“Among others who were present in the protest demonstration at the party headquarters include Senior leaders Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan, Abdul Majeed Bhat Larmi, Dr. Sajad Shafi Uri, Qaiser Jamsheed Lone, Showkat Mir, Showkat Ahmed Ganaie, Sheikh Muhammad Rafi. Party leaders Mir Saifullah, Irfan Ahmed Shah, Altaf Ahmed Wani, Ahsan Pardesi were not allowed to reach the protest venue by the administration,” he added.
