Srinagar, Dec 21: Directorate of Distance Education University of Kashmir on Tuesday organised the 6th Hamidi Kashmiri memorial Urdu lecture.

Noted academician and former Head, Department of Urdu, Banaras Hindu University, Prof Naseem Ahmed delivered the lecture on the topic, “Urdu Saqeeda Nigari Mein Sauda Ka Maqam-o-Martaba”.

Prof Farooq Ahmed Masoodi, Dean Academic Affairs University of Kashmir was the chief guest on the occasion while Prof Nazir Ahmed Malik, former Head Department of Urdu Central University of Kashmir presided over it.

Director Distance Education and Dean School of Open Learning Prof Tariq A Chishti welcomed the participants and highlighted aims and objectives of the lecture.

Coordinator (Urdu) Dr Altaf Anjum conducted the proceedings of the lecture session which was attended by students and scholars in a blended mode.

In his presidential address, Prof Masoodi congratulated the DDE for organising the memorial lecture. He said such events can go a long way in remembering and recalling the great contributions of renowned scholars like Prof Hamidi Kashmiri.

The function was attended by noted academics including Prof Salahuddin Tak, Prof Sharif-ud-Din Din Pirzada, Prof Aijaz Mohammad Sheikh, Dr Mushtaq Haider, Dr Nusrat Jabeen, Dr Mohiuddin Zore, Dr Kauser Rasool, Javid A Dar and others.
