Reiterating the party’s absolute rejection of draft recommendations of the delimitation commission, Sagar said that the party rank and file endorses the stand taken by the party leadership. The draft, he contended ditches the parameters of the commission itself. “It’s not based on democratic and scientific parameters. The draft ditches rules and procedures. The draft constitutes evidence of brazen bias towards Kashmir. It does not correspond to the 2011 census and is violative of principles of democracy and the rules of representation,” he said.

Endorsing the stand of Dr Farooq and Omar Abdullah, Sagar said, “Party high command’s stand on the issue is absolutely clear and every worker of the party endorses it. Our MPs have made it clear that the draft exercise in its entirety offends the constitution. They will file a party’s objections on this (draft) within 10 days,” he added.

Calling it another step towards disempowering Kashmiri Muslims, he said the party MPs will file objections by the end of this month and that party leadership will also devise a future strategy after deliberating upon the evolving situation,” he added.

Dismissing the disinformation campaign by some local parties, he said the party leadership’s stand is clear and the misinformation campaign launched against NC is all smoke and mirrors. “They have always been economical with truth. Representatives of all local mainstream political parties met the visiting delimitation commission. Multiple tweets, statements, press briefs of our party leadership and other functionaries clearly rejected the draft proposal. They are there in public domain for the people to see,” he said.

Party state women’s wing president Shameem Firdous, Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar, Provincial Secretary Adv Showkat Mir, Provincial VP Syed Tauqeer were also present on the occasion.
