JKYF Science Club and J&K STA organise ‘Planet Watch Camp’ at Kulgam

Srinagar: As part of inculcating scientific temper and expose the young minds to learn about unique creations in the Universe, J&K Yateem Foundation Science Club & J&K Science Teachers Association (STA) jointly organised ‘Planet Watch Camp’ at Al Hilal Residential Educational Institute at Chawalgam in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district, during intervening night of Saturday & Sunday.

Al Hilal Residential Educational Institute is running under the aegis of J&K Yateem Foundation.

During the Planet Watch Camp, three powerful telescopes were set up to watch the planets and the moon.

Besides resident orphan students, hundreds of outside students and other learners participated in the Camp.

The participants evinced great interest and were fascinated to watch the four moons of the planet Jupiter, rings of the planet Saturn and beautiful Venus planet of Solar System besides craters on the moon.

A Planetarium Show was also held for the students to explore various constellations of stars.

J & K Yateem Foundation Chairman Mohammad Ahsan Rather extended his profound gratitude to STA Secretary Syed Ishtiyaq Hussain, Educationist Bashir Talib and dedicated resource person cum science communicator Khurshid Ahmad and their associates for putting in strenuous efforts by working hard with the students till late night during sub zero temperature in chilling cold.

Rather exuded confidence that such scientific activities in addition to routine academic activities shall go a long way in helping young children to experience unique activities that would help them to learn about Creations in the Universe through scientific perspective.

Yateem Foundation Science Club coordinated the Camp.

It is pertinent to mention that Al Hilal Residential Educational Institute Kulgam is run by J&K Yateem Foundation.
