JAMMU: Secretary, Tourism & Culture, Sarmad Hafeez today held marathon meetings with representatives of various youth clubs of the city and members of prominent adventure groups and sought their views and suggestions to explore and promote the adventure potential of Jammu region.

Addressing the meetings, the Tourism Secretary said Nature has bestowed Jammu region with utmost adventure potential which ought to be exploited and marketed properly. In this regard, he invited suggestions and ideas from different tourism stakeholders and assured them of full support in executing their ideas.

Sarmad Hafeez asked the groups to come up with concrete proposals for promoting adventure tourism in Jammu region besides promoting the lesser known destinations of the province. He assured all support from the Department wherever possible in promoting adventure activities in the region.

Representatives of Jammu’s women biker clubs, trekking groups and adventure sports associations gave their suggestions about how adventure activities can be promoted in Jammu and how the department can help them in conducting such activities.

The meeting also discussed how tourism stakeholders can promote the lesser known destinations in Jammu amongst tourists and come up with concrete proposals to propel the tourism sector in Jammu. The stakeholders also suggested how promoting adventure activities like skiing, paragliding, rock climbing, mountain biking, camping can boost the activities in scenic locations in and around Jammu.

The meeting was attended by Director Tourism, Jammu, Vivekanda Rai, Managing Director Jammu & Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC), Syed F. Hamid, Joint Director Tourism, Natasha Kalsotra, Deputy Director Tourism, Jammu and other officers.
