NIA conducts searches at 4 locations in Sopore, Srinagar; arrests one person

Srinagar: The National Investigating Agency (NIA) on Thursday conducted searches at four locations in Sopore and Srinagar and arrested person from Sopore.

NIA identified the arrested person as Irfan Tariq Antoo, a resident of Kralteng  Sopore.

In a press release, NIA said “the case relates to conspiracy for undertaking violent terrorist acts in J&K and other major cities including New Delhi, by cadres of proscribed terrorist organisations Laskhar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM),Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), Al Badr and their affiliates such as the Resistance Front (TRF), People Against Fascist Forces (PAFF) etc.”

It said NIA had registered the case as RC 29/2021/NIA/DLI) on October 10, 2021, and initiated the investigation. So far 28 persons have been arrested in the case.

About the person arrested today, NIA said “investigation has revealed that arrested accused person is a terror associate/OGW of proscribed terrorist organisation and has been providing logistical and material support to terrorists.”

Further investigation in the case continues, NIA said.
