BSF ASI shoots self in Uri, critical

Srinagar, Dec 16: An Assistant Sub-inspector of Border Security Forces (BSF) attempted suicide by firing two bullets on his chest in Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, official sources said this morning.

Quoting the sources, news agency GNS reported that ASI Shivaji Yadav of 104 Batallion, posted at Chand One post in sub-sector Gohallan in Uri made the bid using his own service rifle.

The officer, sources said, was evacuated to 92 Base Hospital Srinagar in critical condition.

It was not immediately known as to why the officer took this extreme step.
