Dr Samoon suggests comprehensive reforms in courses offered in skill development institutions

JAMMU: Suggesting comprehensive reforms in the courses being offered in skill development institutions, Principal Secretary, Skill Development Department, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, reviewed the courses being offered by Polytechnics and ITIs of Jammu and Kashmir during a meeting held here today.

The meeting was attended by Director, SDD, Sudershan Kumar; Joint Director Planning, Sapna Salathia; Professor Viney Chouhan, Jammu University; Financial Advisor, SDD, Yasir Sheikh; Under Secretary, SDD, Fayad Ahmad; Professor Prateek Jain, IIT Jammu; Fazial Banka, PwC; Ananya Ajastsatru, MGNF while Dr Muqbil Burhan, IIM Srinagar; Project Manager PwC, Yashpal Malik and other MGNF of all districts participated through video conferencing.

The meeting had detailed deliberation on interim report submitted by the Consultancy PwC with other stakeholders in the SKILL ECO SYSTEM.

The meeting laid emphasis on design of the study to conduct surveys like youth aspiration study and the traced study. Besides, key findings of the work done in this regard were also discussed in detail.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Samoon urged upon the concerned to make all the courses attractive to students with up scaling of their syllabi and other lab works.
