Int’l Day of Persons with Disabilities observed at GHSS Baramulla

BARAMULLA: On International Day of Persons with Disability, a programme was today organised by School Education Department Baramulla in Govt Girls Higher Secondary school here, in which a large number of students across the district participated.

President Municipal Council Baramulla, Touseef Raina was the chief guest while as Chief Education Officer Baramulla G.M. Lone was the special guest on the occasion.

The students taking part in this event showed various types of art in different categories including Singing, Painting, Dancing etc. They also presented a colorful series of cultural items on the occasion.

The students who showed the best part of their talent in different categories of art were felicitated with awards.

After felicitating the talented students, President MC Baramulla urged the whole community that we shall not treat these persons as disabled, rather they are specially abled and they have the capacity and potential to nourish their abilities in every aspect of their life.

He also said that special focus is being given to launch such welfare schemes which can prove pivotal push for upliftment of their socio-economic conditions.

Chief Education Officer also spoke on the occasion and said that it is need of an hour that discriminatory approach these persons are facing at different levels should be eliminated instead they shall be treated at par with other humans.

It shall be our endeavor and desire to help these needy ones when they require it most, he added.

Deputy Chief Education Officer Baramulla, various concerned officers besides students along with escort teachers, HOIs of various schools were also present on the occasion.
