Srinagar, 26 November: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Womens Wing President Shameema Firdous on Friday necessitated for more action  on ensuring women live a life free of violence and coercion.

Addressing party’s women’s wing functionaries here at the Party head quarters Nawa-e-Subha, Srinagar on International Day for elimination of Violence against Women, Shameema Firdous said that party’s women’s wing functionaries, who come from varied back grounds and regions of Jammu and Kashmir, can play a pivotal role in achieving that end by becoming agents of change in their respective localities.

Strengthening on the Party’s commitments to address violence against women, she said part manifesto Naya Kashmir is a holistic vision that strives to create safer spaces for women. “It is with this view that we are stressing on having more educated women in our rank and file. Having more educated women in decision making positions in the party will make the party policies more attuned to the issues faced by our mothers and sisters,” she said.

In her adress to the functionaries, Provincial Women’s wing President Er. Sabiya Qadri said that Women’s political participation has emerged as a key element of democracy globally, asking women to keep at pace with the emerging progressive trends. “It is only through making women political aware that their other pressing issues can be redressed. It was our party that sought to change the roles of women and girls from bonded mortal beings to empowered, confident, educated and self-reliant individuals. The network of women’s colleges and vocational institutes across Jammu and Kashmir are the landmarks of NC’s commitment towards empowering women and d girls,” she said.

Among others Party’s provincial secratary Women’s wing Aisha Jameel Sahiba was also present on the ocassion.
