Pledge taking ceremonies mark celebration of ‘Constitution Day’ across Kashmir

SRINAGAR: On the eve of Constitution Day or ‘Samvidhan Diwas’ being observed every year on November 26, Pledge taking ceremonies were held across all the districts of Kashmir.

The Constitution Day commemorates the adoption of the Constitution of India. On November 26, 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India had adopted the Constitution of India, and it came into effect on 26 January 1950.

At District headquarters, the respective Deputy Commissioners (DCs) presided over the functions held at DC office complexes and read out the Preamble and Charter of principles enshrined in the preamble of Constitution.

They urged upon all officers/officials to maintain a sense of brotherhood, achieve the idea of social, economical and political justice, liberty of thought and expression, equality among all and element of fraternity as enshrined in the preamble of our Constitution.

The Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad read out the preamble of the Constitution along with all senior Officers and Officials of the DC Office and reiterated the resolve of the nation to constitute India into a Sovereign, Socialist, Secular and Democratic Republic nation.

During the ceremony, participants expressed their strong will to secure to all its citizens justice, liberty and equality. Besides, promote among them all fraternity assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of the nation.

The Constitution Day was also observed across all the government offices in the district.

An impressive function with respect to Constitution Day was organized in the conference hall Budgam where Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Budgam, Dr. Nasir Ahmad took a pledge from District officers and other officials who had assembled at the venue.

The Constitution Day was today celebrated across Ganderbal district while the main function was organized at Mini Secretariat Complex Ganderbal which was presided over by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Ganderbal, Farooq Ahmad Baba.

On the occasion, the ADC highlighted the significance of observance of Constitution Day.

All district officers and officials present on the occasion also read the preamble of the constitution and administered a pledge that they will promote Justice, liberty, fraternity and equality within themselves and encourage other persons to take this pledge.

As part of Constitution Day celebrations, a function was held within the premises of Deputy Commissioner’s Office Baramulla today in which all the officers and officials showed their enthusiastic participation.

Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Bhupinder Kumar presided over the function, and read out the Preamble of the constitution. On the occasion, DC said that this day motivates us to connect with the spirit of the Constitution and understand our rights and duties as a citizen.

Similar functions were also held at all Government offices across the Baramulla district where all the heads of departments lead pledge ceremonies on Constitution Day.

Constitutional Day was observed throughout Anantnag district wherein preamble reading ceremonies were organised with traditional fervour and enthusiasm.

The main function was held at DC Office where Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC)  Ghulam Hassan Sheikh read out the preamble in presence of ADDC, Bashir Ahmad Wani, ADC Gulzar Ahmad Bhat, CMO, BDO, besides rank and file of the DC office.

Similar ceremonies were held in all District and Sectoral Offices including Tehsil and Block Offices.

The speakers on the occasion highlighted the salient features of Indian constitution, the essence of which is enshrined in its preamble.

They reiterated their commitment to work in sync with the constitutional principles for faster growth, progress and development of the nation.

The main function was organised at Mini Secretariat Arhama Shopian, in District Shopian where the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Shopian, Mushtaq Ahmed Simnani was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The ADC highlighted the significance of observance of constitution day and to acquaint the participants regarding its prominent values.

ADC urged all the officers to take necessary steps for the national campaign, focusing on creating awareness regarding the fundamental duties. The officers and other officials of all the government departments of the district were present on the occasion.

The day was also celebrated in all the government departments of the district.

The main function at Kulgam was held at Mini Secretariat Kulgam where Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr Bilal Mohi Ud Din Bhat read out the preamble in presence of ADDC, ADC, ACD and ACR. Similar ceremonies were held in all District and Sectoral Offices including Tehsil and Block Offices.

At Kupwara, the main function was held at District Administrative Complex Kupwara which was presided over by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Imam Din. Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kupwara, Ghulam Nabi Bhat; ADC Handwara, Nazir Ahmad Mir; JD Planning, Abdul Majeed, besides, Officers from Administration and employees participated in the preamble reading ceremony.

Similarly, ceremonies were held in all sub divisions of the district to commemorate the Constitution Day.
