Srinagar: The journalists of Kashmir on Tuesday organized a blood donation camp at Kashmir Press Club (KPC) in memory of their colleagues who have left for heavenly abode in the recent past in the Kashmir Valley.

One of the organizers, senior journalist and BBC correspondent, Reyaz Masroor said that Kashmir journalists have jointly thought of organizing the blood donation camp in memory of their colleagues, who lost their lives in the past few years.

He said that in the past few years there has been a trend that young journalists lost their lives due to cardiac arrests or some other reasons. “The journalists have to work in hostile situations, so in order to remember our deceased colleagues and their contributions in the profession we organized this camp at press club today,” he said.

He said that this was purely a Dua-e-Majlis (prayer) event in order to pay homage and pray for the eternal peace to “our deceased colleagues.”

Reyaz said that the blood donation camp was also organized in their remembrance as Kashmir is a seismic zone 5, where accidents keep happening and also because it is a conflict zone, so journalists donated their blood for the noble cause in order to give a tribute to their deceased colleagues.
