Pahari Cultural & Welfare Forum calls on Lt Governor

Jammu: A delegation of Pahari Cultural & Welfare Forum, Anantnag today called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and apprised him about the issues of Pahari speaking people of the UT.

The ten-member delegation led by Sheikh Muzaffar, President, Jammu & Kashmir Nationalist People’s Front, comprising its president Sharief Bhukhari; Member, Syed Akhter Hussain; General Secretary, Suhail Khan; Imtiaz Khan and others, presented to the Lt Governor their issues and demands which included development of pahari habitations, inclusion of pushto speaking people (PSP) in Pahari community reservation benefits, timely issuance of PSP certificates by concerned revenue offices, besides other welfare and development issues of Pahari community.

While interacting with the members of the delegation, the Lt Governor said that all their genuine issues would be taken up with the concerned authorities for their redressal on merit.

The Lt Governor observed that the UT government is committed to make every section of the society as an equal stakeholder in the development process of the UT. He impressed upon the members of the delegation to spread awareness and motivate their community to get connected with various welfare and development schemes being run in J&K aimed at its holistic and equitable development.

The meeting was attended by all Joint Directors, Chief Agriculture Officers, Area marketing Officers of JK Horticulture Planning and Marketing Department, district officers besides all Sub Divisional Agriculture Officers.

Earlier, Union Additional Secretary visited Organic Vegetable Market at agriculture Complex Lalmandi.

Speaking on the occasion, Additional Secretary said Kashmir valley having best agro-climatic conditions for organic farming can increase employment opportunities for farmers as well as educated unemployed youth.

He further said that the Ministry of Agriculture GOI will provide all support and help for upliftment of overall agriculture sector in the valley.
