He said that the three teenagers, all residents of Meej village in Pulwama, “had established contact with a militant commander posing himself as Tayab Farooqi operating from Pakistan and were on their way to cross the LoC via Kupwara to meet him and take illegal training in handling of arms.

“They were supposed to join back militant ranks in Kashmir after completing their arms training,” he said.

Meanwhile, a police spokesperson said that on questioning, the police found that “these teenagers have been radicalised and motivated by militant Tayab Farooqi operating from Pakistan through social media platforms.”

“Assessing the circumstances and tender age of these young boys who were found to be highly motivated to join the path of violence, Jammu and Kashmir Police in its endeavour to ensure peace and stability in Kashmir decided to counsel them and give them a chance to reform into responsible and peace abiding citizen,” the police spokesperson said.

He said that the trio was handed over to their parents after proper counselling. (KNS)
